Hello freshies!
How stressful it is to think about how you'd go through your first day of your first year in college!
Feeling a bit anxious? excited? Having mixed emotions? That's normal.
1st day of school, you're definitely IN if:
*you feel lost and stupid
*simple instructions seem so weird and vague
*you keep on asking what, where and how tos
That's true! Don't be afraid and never get too ashamed, everybody understands that you are a freshman!
Here are some tips on your first day:
1. Bring your registration form-- You won't get lost if you bring this with you. You'll be guided what time your next class will be and the room number. Also, this would serve as your identification card for the mean time.
2. Make yourself familiar with the new environment-- Read signs carefully. Follow instructions and observe keenly. Always make sure what room number you should be in so as to avoid embarrassment on your first day.
3. Don't be late--Of course, you'll be needing some time in searching for your building, for your classroom and other stuffs so be sure to give some adjustments. A 15-minute allowance would be enough. You should not be late for you have to give the professors a good impression. Remember, freshies are polite, honest, punctual; they are (seemingly:D) good.
4. Don't be a killjoy, just have fun!-- Freshmen like you are excited about everything. So just go with the flow. If you're born a killjoy, a semester won't harm. Just join in, otherwise you'll be marked as a dead kid for the entire sem and for the next semesters to come, im sure you wouldn't want that.
5.Know that impromptu q&a's are unavoidable--The professors, your classmates and the others are interested on you. This would be an opportunity to impress them, so give striking answers, But don't be exaggerated to the point of being a braggart. While wanting to make an impact, don't forget to be humble.
Lastly,
6. Be friendly and SMILE--For it takes more muscles to frown than to smile *like a cliche:)))*. Seriously, smiling would bring you less trouble. Since you are not familiar who the bosses are, you better act like courteous and put a sweet smile on your face. And, a smile will let people know how nice and welcoming you are.
Goodluck Freshies! Just have fun!
